Demographic Profiles

NCCP’s Demographic Profiles provide state-specific data on the characteristics of children in poor and low-income families by age. Children living in families with incomes below the federal poverty threshold – $24,339 for a family of four with two children in 2016 – are referred to as poor. Children living in families with incomes below twice this level are referred to as low income.
